Taking volunteerism to Hart

The Volunteer of the Week for this week is Ryan Hart of Bath. The Northside High School senior plays soccer and golf during his free time.

Where or with whom do you volunteer?

Beaufort County Medical Center

What do you do/make there?

Discharge patients, blow up balloons, carry specimens to the lab, deliver medical records to departments in the hospital, deliver meals to patients and other errands that may be needed.

How long have you been a volunteer?

Fourth summer.

Why is it important to be a volunteer?

You get a good feel of the medical field, you get to help people around the hospital and you get a scholarship for college. You also get to hang out with friends and do something productive during the summer.

Do you do other volunteer work?

I have done volunteer work with my church — First Church of Christ.

Where do you work? If retired, where did you work before retiring?
