Make, Watch, or Wonder

To the Editor:
Make, Watch, or Wonder. During the political season, some people wonder what they can do. Here are some options…
Make something happen. You can run for public office. You can become involved with an activist group of your choice and work toward that group’s objectives. You can write letters to the newspaper and express your opinion on the issues facing our community. You can write letters or emails to your elected officials and tell them how you feel about votes they have taken or on upcoming issues. You can voice your opinion before groups and work to get them to agree with your ideas.
Watch something happen. You can read about people who are running for office and become informed as to where they stand on issues affecting our community. You can read about what speakers and topics are discussed at local group meetings and see which ones you agree or disagree with. You can read letters to the editor and see if you agree or disagree with what the writer is saying about their topics. You can read about how your elected officials have voted and let them know what you think about their vote. You can listen to others voice their opinion and see if they agree or disagree with your feeling and let them know how you feel.
Wonder what happened. Or, you can do none of the above and then wonder why we have the type of government and the type of politicians we have!
Which one are you?
