Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

Jesus is neither a Democrat nor a Republican. Jesus is the Son of God who made the heavens and the earth and every living thing. He is our savior. Read your Bibles. There are lots of things Jesus and God does not like in the way of sexuality and sins and it don’t take much of a brain to figure out exactly what I’m saying. He is the master we should be serving, not debating about where he stands in politics. Religion and politics are not supposed to be mixed. Please, keep him out of politics.

I am a Democrat and I am a Christian, at the same time. The Democrats are liberal, and I believe in helping people who need help. However, it is a shame for the ones that get help because they are not willing to help themselves. This should be stopped. Only the ones that really need it should get it and they are not the ones getting it. If you really need it, you can’t get it. But the ones who know how to work the system surely get everything they can. These kinds are leeches on our society.

I think East Carolina needs to get out of the football business. They can’t catch. They can’t block. Why are they on the field? It’s a waste of money.

I was extremely disappointed to see that you wasted space on your sports page again for this youth league football. What are they, 7- to 8-year-olds this time? I am extremely disappointed in the paper. If you want to be a serious newspaper with a serious sports page, you can’t continue to do these fluff pieces. I would hope that you would dedicate some space to other news stories. And you still got Fred Bonner’s column in there, which is outdated. Please, try to do better or you will lose me as a reader. And I have been a subscriber and a buyer for 35 years. But I will not continue to do so unless you change your ways.
