Mary H. McDonald

Mary Ellen Hill McDonald, age 61, a resident of 1751 John Small Ave., Washington, died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at her home.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Derik Davis.
Mary was born in Franklin County, Kentucky to the late Wilbur and Tolla Belle Ritter Hill. She was a 1969 graduate of Anderson County High School in Kentucky and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she received a degree in nursing. She practiced nursing with several hospitals in Kentucky and was most recently employed at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Shelter. She was the founding member of Innerbanks Canine Rescue, member of the Humane Society and Literacy Volunteers of Beaufort County.
Survivors include her life partner, Barb Grau, daughter, Shawn McDonald Hill and husband Ronnie and grandson, Conor Hill, all of Washington. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Hill and Lindsey Wayne Hill.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
