Club News: Down East Seniors

The Down East Seniors met at the Hampton Inn on Wednesday, Oct. 10. President Jack Pyburn opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Ed Sample led the singing of “America,” and  Durwood Cratch delivered the invocation. Dick Robinson was welcomed back by members. Julius Brauer is now the new club treasurer and will welcome dues for the current quarter.
Club member Wayne Melton spoke from firsthand knowledge about the unofficial military teams that obstructed the North Vietnamese supply lines that were using Laos in order to avoid the American and local forces in South Vietnam during the war . Special Forces, using the cover name of “Study and Observation Groups” incurred high casualty rates during that war.
John Tunstall conducted the 50/50 drawing, the winner of which was Wayne Melton.
