On Oct. 17, seventh grade students from Gwen Jones’ room at Bath Elementary School got a chance to see local potter Carolyn Sleeper at work. Sleeper brought her pottery wheel and demonstrated how she makes bowls and vases. Students enjoyed seeing this process up close and were able to ask questions. This was a special treat that corresponded with the novel the students are reading in language arts class called A Single Shard, which is about pottery making in 12th century Korea.
