Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

I am a resident of Belhaven. Saturday past, an eye screening came to Belhaven, sponsored by the Lion’s Club of Bath. Thank you, all of you, who helped support this endeavor. I have found that I have several eye problems that had not been diagnosed prior to this screening. Thank you. You may have saved my sight. God bless all of you Lions of Bath.

I read on the front page where the city has got recruiters for retailers, and the first one of two things they are looking for is grocery stores. We’ve got two Food Lions, two Piggly Wigglys, Walmart and there’s a Food Lion in Chocowinity and an independent over there that’s pretty good. I think the city got the wrong people or they don’t know what they are doing or they are hungry or something.
