Big activities on tap at Brown Library

Published 8:43 pm Thursday, November 8, 2012

It’s been quiet at Brown Library recently, but we’ve been busy as bees behind the scenes, gearing up for the holiday season.
We’ve also been preparing new online features and prepping for one of our most highly anticipated events of the season. Take a peak at what’s happening in November. It’s the end of an era. We’ve swooned over them since the initial release of “Twilight” in 2005, and now it’s time to end the saga. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 16 to wish Edward and Bella a “happily ever after” and celebrate the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2.” Attendees will enjoy a range of yummy snacks, fun games, door prizes and a chance to win two free movie passes from Carmike Cinema 7 of Washington to view the new film. There is a sign-up requirement to attend this event, and spaces are limited. While this event is aimed at teens, “Twihards” of all ages are welcome to attend. You can sign up at our front desk, or by calling 252-946-4300. For more details, check out our Facebook page.
For those on the younger side, be sure to stop by the library Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. for a special Pajama Storytime. Children ages 3 through 10, accompanied by an adult, are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed toy friend. There is no sign up to attend this event.
Moms, dads, grandparents and caretakers, Brown Library now offers a weekly story time for children birth to 5 years old. Join us every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for stories, songs and fun with Terry Rollins.
We’ve had a few new features tucked up our sleeve these last few months, and one of them is the launch of our new website. We will be launching this new resource for our patrons in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our official Facebook page for all the details.
The library will be closed Sunday and Monday in observance of Veterans Day. We will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday and resume normal operating hours. The library will be closed Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 in observance of Thanksgiving. We will reopen at 10 a.m. on Nov. 24 and resume normal operating hours. We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you a safe and fun holiday season.
Brown Library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

We’ll see you in December. And if you haven’t already done so, make sure you stop by and get the smartest card you’ll ever have: a library card.
