Caretakers accused of embezzlement

Two Chocowinity women were arrested this week, charged with embezzlement from an elderly woman in their care, according to a press release from the Washington Police Department.

Crystal Lynn Nobles, 29, of Highway 17, and Kellie Louise Taylor, 28, of Sunshine Lane, while acting as caretakers to victim, allegedly stole a large amount of money from the woman over prior months. According to the release, detectives have recovered some of the currency and additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Dec. 20, Nobles and Taylor were incarcerated at the Beaufort County Detention Center under $50,000 bonds, pending appearances.

The release said the victim’s identity is being protected for safety reasons.
