Southside High School Future Farmers of America members Macy Paramore, Samantha LoRe, Kimberly Ange, John McCormick, Kashaun Harvey, Bryan Hudson and Wyatt Pecher, along with adviser Joshua Singleton, attended the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis Oct. 23-26.
The students attended workshops at the national level and heard speeches from a variety of people, including Olympic gold medalists and military veterans who served in Afghanistan. They also held a rally to fight hunger and helped to package more than 1 million meals to feed the hungry.
More than 56,000 FFA members from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam attended the convention.
The Southside chapter financed its trip with a barbecue chicken dinner and a lot of community support and donations.
