Mr. Lindy Walker “L.W.” Cherry, 69, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Cherry, a native of Beaufort County, was a graduate of Bear Grass High School. He was the owner and operator of HLS Safety Products and co-owner of Mid-Way Grocery Store in Bath, NC. For a number of years he lived in Elizabeth City, where he was a member of First Christian Church. Gifted in music, Mr. Cherry enjoyed fishing and bingo. He loved family and friends, and never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Jessie McLawhorn Cherry; and special friend, Sonny Grogan in November 2012.
He is survived by his:sister, Laurel C. Ambrose and husband, Wilbur, of Williamston; “adoptive granddaughter”, Heather Cates and close friend, Joyce Cherry Tucker, both of Chocowinity.
