DARLENE’S FLAMINGO 5K: A recent fundraiser by family and friends in memory of cancer survivor Darleen Smith raised $17,500 to benefit the Shepard Cancer Foundation. Darleen’s Flamingo 5K held its 3rd annual “Make Your Own Party” road race in November and presented a check to the foundation in December. “What a wonderful tribute to honor Darleen and assist cancer patients here in Beaufort County. It’s not just a road race, it’s a great party,” said John Tate, President of the Shepard Cancer Foundation.
