The end of January may be creeping closer, but don’t give up on those resolutions just yet. Whether it’s starting a garden, eating healthier, or dipping your toe into yoga, Brown Library can help you find the resources to make 2013 your best year yet.
It’s finally here: The Friends of the Brown Library Annual Winter Book Sale! Every year, our Friends organization hosts one of the biggest and best book sales in eastern North Carolina. All proceeds help support the library, bringing you new materials and programs throughout the year. If you’re not a member already, there’s still time left to sign up, and as always, you can sign up at the door during the sale. Becoming a member of our Friends group allows you access to the members exclusive sale night on Thursday, January 24, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The sale is open to the public starting Friday, January 25, through Saturday, January 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, January 27, books will be sold by the bag from noon until 3 p.m. The book sale is definitely one of our biggest events. You won’t want to miss out on these deals.
Moms, dads, grandparents, and caretakers, Brown Library now offers a weekly story time for children birth to 5-years-old. Join us every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for stories, songs, and fun with Terry Rollins!
Can’t make it to the library for story time? Now you can enjoy a story with Children’s Librarian, Terry Rollins, right from the comfort of your own home. Our new virtual story time web series “Enjoy a Story!” will be available through Facebook, our new website, and our Youtube page. Subscribe to our channel at http://www.youtube.com/brownlibrarystories.
Did you see the blockbuster hit “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” over the holiday season? If you, like many, were swept away by the epic fantasy, then stop by our Young Adult Collection display area and see the variety of fantasy novels we have to offer. With titles for all age groups, you’re sure to find your own “unexpected journey” within.
Brown Library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
