Published 12:47pm Saturday, February 16, 2013

Beaufort County is under a winter weather advisory with snow accumulations of 1-3 inches possible this evening, according to a notice from the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.

The Winter Weather Advisory for snow is in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon to 4 a.m. Sunday. The highest amounts of snow accumulation are expected to be along and north of Highway 264.

Rain will change to snow late Saturday afternoon and continue through late Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The winter weather could create hazardous driving conditions, including slick roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility.
