There’s no place like home

Nearly 200 local high school juniors found new reasons to plan their futures in Beaufort County this week.
Beaufort County JobLink, Washington-Beaufort Chamber of Commerce and Beaufort County Schools sponsored a job fair. The organizations had loftier expectations than just an introduction to the job market for the students. The event featured local businesses. Those corporations with a larger footprint than Beaufort County focused on the employment opportunities in this county.
Students and employers found the event a success. Students walked away with an optimistic perspective of the career opportunities available close to home. Employers left impressed by the questions students posed and asking to be included in the next career day.
And there will be a next one — with twice the participants. Organizers said next year’s career day would likely include juniors and seniors.
Kudos to those involved in planning an event that provided valuable information to students exploring career paths.
