Beaufort County Schools held its annual Middle School Battle of the Books competition on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
Battle of the Books is sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). Its goal in sponsoring this academic competition yearly is “aimed at promoting love of reading and familiarity with the best in literature for young people.” This competition is open to middle school students in grades 6-8. Students are given a list of 27 books compiled by members of the NCSLMA and must answer questions gleaned from those books in a quiz-bowl type tournament.
P. S. Jones took its second consecutive title as Beaufort County champion and, as a result, will represent BCS in the regional competition on April 17, 2013.
