DRESS-DOWN APRIL: Beaufort County Department of Social Services recently participated in the 2013 Beaufort County United Way Campaign. Pictured above, DSS campaign coordinator Lisa Alligood proudly presents $3,800 to United Way Director Mark Hamblin. BCDSS had 100 percent of their employees participate in this year’s campaign. Funds were raised by employees paying to dress down the month of April and also through payroll deductions. Stated by Mark Hamblin, “One-hundred percent participation from a group of 110 is quite an achievement. I’m very thankful for the effort and the strong support of the Beaufort County Department of Social Services for the Beaufort County United Way and our Community Partners. The financial support of the staff of DSS is a testament to the work of our Community Partners. Because DSS works so closely with many of the same folks, they can see the results of the work of our partners in the county and choose to support them financially. I hope that DSS’s strong support will encourage others in the county to follow their lead.”
