Club Meeting
The Alpha Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at the Meeting Place Restaurant on May 2, 2013 at 6 p.m. President Nancy Hill called the meeting to order and following a greeting, the invocation was given by Mrs. Kay Hauser. Following a delicious meal the chapter attended to regular business and reports from committees including one from the president on the recent state meeting. Local high school students receiving Grants in aid were acknowledged but were unable to attend.  Sherri Cox, recent WITN Teacher of the Week was recognized. New key women educators to be invited into membership were selected by secret vote. The highlight of the evening was a raffle for items donated by members with the funds going to the Delta Kappa Gamma Emergency Relief Fund given by Eta State (North Carolina). A number of local members received a check from this fund when their homes were damaged by Hurricane Irene. Knowing that the fund needs replenishing, the local group was able to raise $1,304 from the raffle to send to that cause! Members also donated generously to the state scholarship fund that provides educational scholarships to women around the world. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honorary Society of women educators. The Society promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education.
