OBIT-STREET

Mr. Garfield Street Jr. of 3511 Wharton Station Road Washington, NC died, August 16, 2013 at home. He was born in Holly Springs Miss. September 19,1948 to the late Garfield Street Sr. and Beauty Bee Street.

Garfield attended China Grove Public school in Rutheford, TN. He began working in 1974  for Washington City schools and continued after the merge with Beaufort County Schools. He retired February 28,2013 after 39 years of service.

He enjoyed being in company with children. He coached Little League Baseball. Garfield was a lifetime member of Hunters Bridge Hunting club in Beaufort County. He enjoyed working with his dogs and hunting.

Garfield was married to Linda Wallace-Street who survives. He was the father of seven children: Kyale Gaskins Sr. & David Street both of Leesville, La; Alicia Harding & Shari Griffin both of Washington, Holly Street, Stephanie Street and Leah Street, all of the home. 

Grandchildren: Kyale Gaskins Jr., Kadejah Harding, Joseph Gaskins, Deon Street, Jayden Street, Makayla Bailey, and Adjatay Gaskins. Two brothers: James Street of Hornlake, MS and Roosevelt Street of Milan, TN, six sisters: Mary Alice Street of Bradford, TN; Beauty Bee Tharpe of Trenton, TN; Mary Whitley of Milan, TN;

Georgia B Tuggles of Bradford, TN; Rose Coburn of Bradford’ TN; Dorothy Jean Schoonover of Bradford, TN.

Garfield Street Jr. was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August  23, 2013 at Metropolitan AME Zion Church 102 West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Washington, North Carolina. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2:00pm – 6:00pm Thursday August  22, 2013 at Leon Randolph Funeral Home. Other times the family will receive friends at the home.
