Investigators charged a Pinetown woman with the murder of her boyfriend in what authorities are saying was a domestic incident.

Dee Trent Reifinger, 54, and Michael Wayne Moon, 59, lived together at 2530 Long Ridge Road in Pinetown, and it was to that address that Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded after an emergency call late Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, at 10:39 p.m., a report came in of an unresponsive person, but when deputies arrived they found Moon deceased, with a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies and investigators identified Reifinger as the suspect.

According to Moon’s Facebook page, he was employed by Domtar Paper Co. (formerly Weyerhaeuser) in Plymouth and was an avid fisherman and motorcyclist.

Reifinger was charged with an open count of murder for Moon’s death. She was taken into custody, transported to the Women’s Prison in Raleigh and held on a $500,000 secured bond, according to the release.
