Dr. William James Glover

On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, Bill, a loving husband and father went home to rejoice with his heavenly father and the many friends and family that preceded him. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 13 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church officiated by Father Brendan Buckler. A private interment will follow at a later date in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Bill lived in Northwest Indiana for 62 years before leaving with his wife Marie (Mary Rongers) from their Hobart, IN home for Bath, NC. Dr. Glover retired to Bath in 1988 and enjoyed the quiet life after a busy working career that included these highlights.

Dr. Glover was a Surgeon, Professor, and Writer. He attended the University of Notre Dame and studied pre-medicine from 1944 to 1946. In 1949 he graduated from the Loyola School of Medicine. Dr. Glover was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, an Adjunct Associate Professor of Anatomy, Emeritus at Indiana University School of Medicine, Northwest Center. He was Clinical a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, Emeritus at Indiana University School of Medicine, Northwest Center. Dr. Glover was a founding member of Ross Clinic, Merriville, IN. He practiced surgery for over 50 years. Dr. Glover was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, the United States Merchant Marine, a Licensed Master Seaman and Capt. in the United States Air Force.

Bill loved the outdoors and he spent most of his free time fishing on the Indiana waters of Lake Michigan in his Bayliner, the See Adler and in North Carolina on the Pamlico River and Bath Creek in his 21 foot Parker named Hopscotch. He was a crack shot and enjoyed hunting and sporting clays.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marie, of Bath, NC; his nieces, Patricia Buckner of Miller, IN, Margie Kunz of Sunnyvale, CA, and Mary Gustafson of Los Altos, CA; his nephews, Mark Rongers and John Joseph Rongers both of Hobart, IN, John Paul Maschenick of Griffin, GA, Edward Rongers of Fruitvale, TX, Richard Rongers of Sedona, AR and Jim Rongers of Kennesaw, GA.

Bill was preceded to heaven by his son Mark Edward Glover of Laporte, IN, his sister, Marjo Klein, his mother, Marquerite of Los Altos, CA, his father, William James Glover, Jr. of Gary, IN and his nephew, George Rongers of Hebron, IN.
