Marshall Peterson DuVal, Jr., 80, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, March 16, at 3 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity by the Rev. Sonny Browne.

Mr. DuVal, a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, earned a Masters Degree in education from East Carolina College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a lifetime member of the Optimist Club of Washington and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Duke DuVal; second wife, Sue Wirtz DuVal; daughter, Mary DuVal Renn; son, Marc Duke DuVal; stepson, Don Moody; and grandson, William Marshall Renn.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Harr and husband, Joshua, of Kinston and Jackson DuVal of Greenville; son in-law, Wayne Renn and wife, Cindy, of Aurora; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Alexander Harr.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
