On March 31, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Malcolm Eugene Smith, age 24, of 310 Gray Road in Chocowinity. Smith’s arrest stemmed from investigators in the Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit conducting controlled purchases of marijuana and cocaine. Smith had several active arrest warrants as a result of those investigations and was also listed as a probation absconder.

Smith was arrested and charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place to facilitate drug activity and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith also had active orders for arrest for six counts of driving while license revoked and three counts of misdemeanor probation violation. Smith was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $203,500 secured bond.
