JO ANN JENNETTE ASBY

July 22, 1936 – April 14, 2014

 

Mrs. Jo Ann Jennette Asby, age 77, a resident of 90 Canal Run, Washington died Monday evening April 14, 2014, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday April 17, 2014, at the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Steve Hill.  Keith Gardner, Kevin Gardner, Isaac Jennette, Jason Jennette, Chuck Smith and James Asby, III will serve as pallbearers.  Michael Holland, Richard Johnson, Jessie Jennette and David Nixon will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Asby was born in Beaufort County on July 22, 1936, daughter of the late Ivia Thomas Jennette, Sr. and Apply Jane Alligood Jennette.   She was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School.  On January 10, 1959, she married Reginald Asby who survives.  Mrs. Asby was a homemaker and cherished her time building her family and home.  She was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband, Reginald of the home, she is survived by her children: Regina Little and husband Tim and Dwayne Asby and wife Tonya, all of Washington; her grandchildren:  Warner Ann Little, Logan Little, Justin Jackson, Gavin Asby and Dawson Asby; her brothers: Ivia Thomas Jennette, Jr. and wife Brenda of Richmond, Va and Jerry Swindell Jennette and wife Judy of Washington; her sister: Betty Lou Gardner of Carrolton, Va  and many beloved nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Alice Pearl Johnson and Onnie Nixon.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service and other times at the home.
