BEAUFORT COUNTY SCHOOLS | CONTRIBUTED COMPETITION: Eight Beaufort County Early College High School students competed at the regional National History Day competition in Greenville on April 9. Two students qualified to compete at the state level on April 26 at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. Each student created a historical research project using primary and secondary resources with the supervisor of their history teacher, Amanda Smith. Those traveling to Raleigh for the competition will be Josiah Turner and Cristal Gachuz. Jurnee Lee, Magaly Lugo, John Richards, Andrew Clark, Zackary Batts and Stephen Peed also competed on the regional level. The eight students were first selected through competition at the school to compete on the regional level.
