Ferry riders today may experience a hiccup in the Bayview-Aurora ferry. North Carolina DOT workers have scheduled maintenance work that will suspend service during certain hours of the day.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 3:15 p.m., ferry trips across the river will be suspended. According to a press release from NCDOT, the maintenance has been scheduled during these hours in an effort to not disrupt the morning and afternoon commuters who use the ferry. If maintenance work is completed sooner than expected, the route will resume runs earlier, the release said.

The required maintenance is on the ferry ramps and gantries, the mechanisms that raise and lower the ramps.

The amended Bayview-Aurora schedule is as follows.

Departing Bayview: 5:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 3:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 9:15 p.m., and 11 p.m.; departing Aurora: 6:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 10 p.m., and 12:30 a.m.
