Published 8:14 pm Saturday, May 31, 2014

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

During the month of June cats and kittens at the shelter will have an adoption fee of $25. This fee includes spaying/neutering, the first round of shots, a microchip and worming, for each feline adopted. This is a reduced fee with the remainder paid by the Humane Society of Beaufort County. Don’t delay! This offer is in effect June 1 through June 30. Questions, please call 252-946-1591.

Buddy

Buddy, my Buddy… no Buddy quite like you! That’s our Dog of the Week. A smart, friendly, neutered male, Labrador Retriever-mix. At one year old, he is smart, will listen and knows some commands. The family that found him said that he got along great with their kids and he played well with their other dogs. Also, he will scratch on the door to let you know that he needs to go out to relieve himself. He is prone to wandering while out, so he will need to be watched or, ideally, have a fenced-in yard to get the exercise he needs. With an adoption fee of $15, Buddy is ready to go to his good, forever home. He is available through Saturday at the shelter.
