Dear Editor:

 

I would like to thank the Highway Patrol for backing me and helping with the text and driving campaign. Together we are saving lives. What people don’t understand is what law enforcement goes through every day. When my daughter, Sarah, had her fatality, the troopers that were the first ones there. Can you imagine what they saw? That was their first fatality and it will be in their minds for the rest of their lives. I remember Sgt. Respess coming to me and telling me that Sarah was gone, and he hugged me. I remember Sgt. Respess telling me if I ever needed anything they would be there for me, and three years later, we are working together to save lives. They put their lives on the line every day for us. So when you walk a mile in their shoes, you will actually know their job isn’t easy. So thank you Highway Patrol for everything you do. A big thank you to Mrs. Melanie Rodgers for pointing me in the right direction and listening to me when I need someone to talk to.
