Kiwanis Club scholarship recipients

WASHINGTON KIWANIS CLUB | CONTRIBUTED SCHOLARLY TYPES: The Washington Kiwanis Club has awarded $1,200 scholarships to four local Key Club seniors. The recipient from Southside High School was Holly Perry and from Northside High School was Cheyenne Franks. Previously, the club announced two other recipients, Elizabeth Miller and Christian Crompton, both from Washington High School. The winners were honored at a recent meeting of the local club. Pictured (left to right) are Holly Perry, Scholarship Chairman David Francisco and Cheyenne Franks. Perry told club members that she intended to attend NC State and major in biology while Franks said that she plans to attend ECU and major in pre-law. Funding for the scholarships and other club projects comes from community activities including the Annual Lobster Sale, the Washington/Kiwanis Christmas Parade and the annual Superball Golf Tournament. The Kiwanis Club of Washington meets each Tuesday for lunch at King Chicken on Carolina Avenue, Washington. The club welcomes prospective members who have an interest in service to the community.
