William Russell Wiley (Billy), 79, of Washington passed away peacefully after an extended illness on July 15, 2014. Billy was born in Clarksville, Virginia, to Edna Adams Wiley and Russell Sage Wiley on August 14, 1934, and moved to Washington as a child. He graduated from Washington High School, attended North Carolina State University, and served in the U.S. Army in Germany for two years.

Billy owned and operated Wiley Lumber Company for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sara (Sally) Johnson Wiley of the home; his daughter, Sara Gray Horne, and her husband Mike of Winston-Salem, NC; his son, James Russell (Rusty) Wiley and daughter-in-law, Janie, of Ridgefield, CT; his grandchildren, Morgan, Grayson, and Madison Wiley; his sisters Gayle Morgan of Washington and Kathy Lassiter and her husband, Doug, of Fletcher, NC; his brother, Steve Wiley and his wife, Pat, of Washington, sister-in-law, Susan  Wiley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, William Russell Wiley, Jr.; his brother, John Randolph Wiley; and his parents.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of this beloved husband, father, grandfather, and sibling will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m.    Friday July 18, 2014.

The family will receive friends at the home located at 107 Landon Drive, in the Runyon Hills neighborhood of Washington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 211 West Second Street, Washington, NC 27889 or Community Home Care and Hospice , 222 Stewart Parkway, Washington, NC 27889.
