LELA NELSON CLIFT

Lela Nelson Clift died after a brief illness on July 13, 2014. She was born in New Bern on October 11, 1922, to CC Nelson and Lela Naomi Merrill.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, July 25, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC, with a reception to follow at a Washington area restaurant.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the chapel of the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, 2205 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh.
Lela is survived by her daughters Susan McDevett Farris (Rick) of Apex, NC and Sheila Hardison McDevett of Columbia, SC; and two grandsons, Lucas and Lee Farris. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frazier Thomas McDevett, Jr., James McKimmon Saunders and Murray Tenneyson Clift; a sister, Sheila Nelson Darden, and a brother, Christopher Cornelius Nelson, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the charity of one’s choice.
