Leewood  A.  Lupton
May 31, 1926 – July 24, 2014

Leewood Allen Lupton, 88, of 1291 Sladesville Road, the Sladesville Community, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

Born in Hyde County, he was the son of the late John A. and Lydia McKinney Lupton.  He was married to Frostie Thompson Lupton who preceded him in death in 2004.  He was member of Atlantic Lodge # 294 A. F. & A.M. and the Amran Shrine where he was a lonf-time member of the Turtle Patrol.  He was a charter member of the Scranton Volunteer Fire Department and a former board member of Pungo Christian Academy. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Williams during World War II.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the family plot in St. John’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in the Sladesville Community.  Atlantic Lodge # 294  will provide Masonic Graveside Rites.

Surviving  are a grandson, Stephen Lee Warner, Jr. of Scranton.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Lupton was also preceded in death by a daughter, Leann Lupton Cowell.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Street, Greenville SC 29605, Oxford Orphanage, 600 College Street, Oxford NC 27565 or the charity of one’s choice.

The family will receive friends following the service at Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
