JOHNNY W. NOBLES, SR.

Nov. 23, 1939 – July 25, 2014

 

Mr. Johnny Wilbur “Pee Wee” Nobles, Sr.,  age 74, a resident of 373 Cayton Road, Chocowinity, NC died Friday July 25, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday July 29, 2014 at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity officiated by Rev. Henry Horne and the Rev. James Dixon.  Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Andrew Godley, Tim Nobles, Sam Nobles, Coy Godley, Jay Kinion, Kevin Carrow and Jeffrey Carrow.

The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday July 28, 2014 at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Mr. Nobles was born in Beaufort County on November 23, 1939 son of the late Johnny Webster Nobles and the late Bessie Pearl Edwards.  He attended Chocowinity schools.  On September 30, 1960 he married the former Merle Lou Woolard who survives.  He was a foreman at PCS Phosphate of Aurora and retired on December 1, 1999.  Mr. Nobles was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of the Southside High School Athletic Booster Club.

Surviving along with his wife Lou of the home are two daughters: Cynthia Kay Nobles of Troutman, NC and Jessica Leeann Godley and her husband Andrew of Vanceboro and a brother: James Hilton Nobles of Chesapeake, VA.  Mr. Nobles was predeceased, along with his parents, by two sons: Johnny W. Nobles, Jr. and Raeford Earl Nobles; two brothers: Bobby Wayne Nobles and George Norman Nobles and a sister: Sybil Nobles Britton.
