We are truly blessed, Aug. 3, 2014

To the Editor:

I know we live in a negative world. The evening news begins with murder, robbery and criminal activity. If someone makes a positive comment, it is likely followed by someone else saying, “Yes, but” with a negative response.

I am proud to live right here in Washington. One morning recently, I drove down Stewart Parkway and noticed the impressive new lighthouse, boats, docked at the waterfront, youth on sailboats learning how to sail in our beautiful harbor area, and people walking down the promenade and boardwalk. As I drove by the park area, children were playing, people were in the swing enjoying the river view, and buses were lined up in front of the North Carolina Estuarium with both adults and youth about to tour the facility. I noticed the very attractive Moss Landing area, and in a addition, a train slowly crossing the trestle.

There is plenty of bad to discuss, however, we are blessed with a beautiful waterfront that we all can enjoy with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. No buts! Yes, we are truly blessed!
