PTRF to construct more camping platforms

Published 5:32 pm Monday, August 4, 2014

Construction is ready to start on several camping platforms, and able bodied volunteers are needed to help beginning next week.   Individuals with carpentry skills are particularly needed, but anyone willing to lend a hand is welcome.  PTRF would love to add your name to our expanding list of camping platform volunteers!

Six people are needed to help load and unload materials for the Gamelands platform just downstream from Tarboro, which can only be reached by water.  The actual days for this task will dictated by water levels, not too high or too low.  A contractor will actually build this platform because of the remote site.

Two platforms will be built with all-volunteer labor.  The Bourne Farm Platform upstream of Dunbar Bridge above Tarboro is first up for construction, and could begin as early as next week.  The Camp Boddie Platform on Blounts Bay in Beaufort County will be built as soon as Bourne Farm is finished. Platforms take about a week to build, and volunteers who can spend at least a half-day on the job are needed.

Please respond to matt@ptrf.org, or give Matt Butler a call at 252-946-7211 to volunteer or find out more details.  Thanks for any time you can give to this fun and rewarding project.
