WASHINGTON EVENING ROTARY_WEB

The Washington Rotary Club met Thursday night at the Washington Yacht and
Country Club.  President Brad Davis gave the invocation.  Program Chairman
Shanon Carter introduced Blair Bergevin who is the Executive Director of the
Blind Center, and who spoke about the programs that the Blind Center
provides for the blind and visually impaired in Beaufort County.  She also
told about a unique and thought provoking fundraiser for the Blind Center
that is coming up on Friday September 6th at the Washington Yacht and
Country Club called “Dinner in the Dark.”  After enjoying a salad, guests
will put on sleeping masks to finish their dinners as the blind do every
meal, which will be a vivid reminder of the needs of the visually impaired.
There will also be a silent auction and a live auction following the dinner.
Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at the Blind Center on East 3rd Street.
Following the presentation, Rotarian Russell Smith surprised Blair Bergevin
with personal checks from several Rotarians to purchase a much needed lawn
mower for the Blind Center. Pictured are Program Chairman Shannon Carter (left) and Blair Bergevin (right).
The meeting was concluded with the recitation of Rotary’s 4 Way Test.
