School is back in session, and fall is just around the corner. While it may seem a little quiet around the library this time of year, we’re busy behind the scenes planning a ton of fun fall and holiday programming. Keep a lookout around the library and on our Facebook page for all the exciting events coming later this year!

Calling all pirates, princesses and princes! You are cordially invited to join us for our second annual “Pirates & Princesses Tea Party”. Celebrate International Talk like a Pirate Day with Mr. Terry onFriday, September 19, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the library. Children ages 5 – 12 may attend, accompanied by an adult. Costumes are encouraged (boy and girl pirates, princesses, and princes). Participants will enjoy a formal tea party (we’ll be serving juice and cookies), stories, songs, and surprises. Sign-ups are required, as space is limited. Patrons can sign-up at the front desk or contact Mr. Terry at 946-4300 for more information.

We would like to take a moment to thank the Friends of Brown Library organization once again for their continued support. Without their aid, we would not be able to host even half of the fun events we do. Show your support for the Friends and the library by stopping by the Friends’ summer book sales. The Friends of Brown Library host a weekly summer book sale at the Saturday Market, located on Washington’s beautiful waterfront. They will be there on Saturdays through October 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., weather permitting.

Don’t forget to check out our brand new eLibrary just for kids! Catch up on the latest Magic Tree House installments, dive into the world of Harry Potter, or find your new favorite series, all from our kid-friendly eReading Room. Check it out at www.e-inc.lib.overdrive.com/kids.

Moms, dads, grandparents, and caretakers, Brown Library now offers a weekly story time for children birth to 5-years-old. Join us every Tuesday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. for stories, songs, and fun with Terry Rollins!

Brown Library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
