IN HONOR AND REMEMBRANCE: Saturday, Woodmen of the World, Lodge 623, donated a flag pole, American flag and a memorial plaque to honor those who died in the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the many U.S. Armed Forces and law enforcement personnel, past and present, who protect America’s freedom. The flag pole and memorial in front of the Washington Boys & Girls Club of Beaufort County was dedicated in a ceremony Saturday before an audience of law enforcement and emergency services personnel, Woodmen of the World and Boys & Girls Club members. Washington Unit Director Stanhope Deatherage said he plans for Boys & Girls Club members lower the flag daily at sunset, teaching them to be good custodians of the national flag. Here, Garland Woolard (right), secretary for the Lodge 623, helps brothers Daquarius (left) and Za’ques McCullough raise the flag for the first time.
