43 Parrott Students recognized with AP Scholar Awards

Forty-three Arendell Parrott Academy students have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams with one achieving national ranking. Last May, 107 Parrott Academy students took 230 examinations with 82 percent of students receiving a grade of 3 or higher on one or more exams. Worldwide, 61.3 percent of the 2.3 million AP students scored a 3 or higher. In North Carolina 60.6 percent of AP students scored a grade of 3 or higher.

Graduate William Archie was named a National AP Scholar for earning a grade of 5 on all 10 AP Exams taken. He is attending Washington and Lee University as a Johnson Scholar. William is the grandson of Bet and Tommy Archie of Washington.

Senior Hawes Collier qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. He is the son of Beth and Chris Collier of Washington.
