East Carolina Aquatics has been recognized by USA Swimming as a top swim club in the state and nation.

ECA is one of only six programs in North Carolina to achieve the highest ranking of Level 4 in USA Swimming’s club recognition program for the 2014-2015 year.

The voluntary program recognizes clubs that demonstrate a commitment to long-term growth, development and stability. Clubs must meet benchmarks measuring business and organizational success, parent and volunteer development, coach development and education and athlete development and performance.

“Level 4 clubs are the most advanced in all areas,” according to the USA Swimming website. “Examples of Level 4 achievement include financial planning for the future and owning or operating a facility. Has a strong management team that is fully responsible for implementing the club’s strategic plan. Their staffs have considerable experience and tenure with the clubs and their athletes are competing and achieving at the national level.”

ECA Board Chairman Bob Landry thanked everyone who contributed to the award, including general manager Scott Pake and head coach Casey Charles, who initiated and completed the application for the designation.

“This is a tribute to the hard work and efforts of all of our swimmers and parents who helped to make this happen,” said Landry, who recognized current and past board members for their leadership. “This really is a big honor for our club.”

East Carolina Aquatics is a nonprofit, year-round swim team for children and adults with more than 400 swimmers in Cape Carteret, Greenville, Morehead City and Washington. Go to www.swimeca.org for more information.
