P.S. Jones hosts first ever cross country meet

P.S. Jones Middle School played host to the school’s first ever cross country meet on Tuesday.

Hope Middle, E.B Aycock Middle and Ayden Middle all had teams competing in the event. Lucas Wiley from Hope won the boys 2-mile race with a time of 11:50, followed closely by P.S. Jones’ Danny Perez. Hope won the meet with a total of 24 points, followed by P.S. Jones with 45, Ayden with 78 and Aycock with 94.  Other top male performers from P.S. Jones were Henry Jennings in sixth place (12:59), Spencer Worley in eighth (13:09), Graham Parker in 13th (13:29), Tim Anglim in 16th (13:29), Stewart Hopper in 17th (13:46) and Logan Everette in 19th (14:05).

In the girl’s race, Julia Kohake from Hope took 1st with a time of 13:13, and Sarah Scott Woolard from P.S. Jones was a close second in 13:25. Hope’s girls’ team also won the meet with a total of 23 points. P.S. Jones was second with 52, followed by Aycock with 74, and Ayden with 91. Top female performers from P.S. Jones included Jazmin Vega in 11th (16:38), Savannah O’Brien in 12th (16:42) and Fatima Torres in 13th (16:45). The Demons will travel to Boyd Lee Park in Winterville next Tuesday, with races beginning at 4:30.
