OUTMATCHED: MyEyeDoctor midfielder Fernando Aguilar starts a break up field in Saturday’s win against Athletic Edge.

Riding a relentless offensive attack, MyEyeDoctor chalked up nine goals in a victory over Athletic Edge on Saturday to pick up its second win of the season in Division IV play.

Hat tricks have become a habit for Christian Cadle and the MyEyeDoctor offense this season. Playing with two offensive midfielders, it took just 20 seconds for Cadle to notch his first goal, receiving a quick slip pass from Fernando Aguilar and blasting a shot to the right of the Athletic Edge keeper.

Aguilar and midfielder Tiger Shinohara kept the pressure on through the early stages of the first half, pressuring the Athletic Edge defense. After multiple chances on net, Cadle found another opening in the defense and rocketed a shot from 30-yards out that sailed just over the goalkeeper’s outstretched hand.

Over the next three minutes, MyEyeDoctor tallied another two goals, including one off a long throw-in from Shinohara that Aguilar finished with ease.

With 15 minutes to go in the half, the Athletic Edge goalie accidentally stepped outside the box on the punt, giving MyEyeDoctor a direct kick just outside the 18. Leonel Hernandez took the kick and blasted a shot just over keeper’s head for the fifth goal of the match.

The ambush continued minutes later when Aguilar found Henry Jennings, who redirected a shot on goal. The keeper made the save, punching the ball outside the box, but the clearance found Cadle, who fired another long shot into the back of the net.

Athletic Edge finally got its opportunity in the waning minutes of the half, as Mohammad Ashton capitalized off a mistake on defense, chipping a shot over the MyEyeDoctor keeper’s head to bring the halftime score to 6-1.

Seven minutes into the second half, Hernandez hustled and got behind the defense, picking up goal No. 7, but Athletic Edge would answer. A perfectly placed through ball from Cruz Lugo-Reyes found Ashton again, who finished to bring the score to 7-2.

For MyEyeDoctor, late goals by Shinohara and Hernandez ballooned the score to 9-2, as their team went on to win 9-3, bringing their record to 2-1 on the season.

Athletic Edge will face Wilson Jones Sunday at 1 p.m., while MyEyeDoctor looks to pick up win No. 3 against Phillips Wright at 2:15 p.m.
