RENA W. GIBBS
May 6, 1927 – Sept. 25, 2014

Rena Bell Williams Gibbs, 87, of 243 Jack’s Rd., Engelhard, died Thursday September 25, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Born in Hyde County, May 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Calvin V. and Dessie McKinney Williams. She was married to Jack Blount Gibbs who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ where she was active in many church activities through the years. She was a gardener and enjoyed her flowers and plants as a favorite hobby. Her special love was always extended to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they in turn were drawn to her knowing there was always food in the oven.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Fulford Cemetery. Phil Emmert and Steven Mills will officiate.
Surviving are two daughters, Gennie G. Williams and husband J.C. of Swan Quarter, Wanda G. Mann of Engelhard; two sons, Landa Gibbs and wife Gina of Engelhard and Timmy Gibbs and wife Lou Ann of Engelhard; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Williams of Elizabeth City.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Esther G. Stout; three brothers, Allen Williams, Harold Williams and Romulus Williams; two sisters, Alma Lewis and Alma Gray Gibbs
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter on Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
