BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY: Beth Byrd, Director of the Washington Harbor District Alliance happily accepts the monetary support presented by Ray McKeithan, manager of public and government affairs for PotashCorp-Aurora.

Through a partnership between PotashCorp Aurora and the Washington Harbor District Alliance (WHDA), the community is able to enjoy many community-building events in the Washington Harbor District. WHDA puts on over 16 annual events that highlight the downtown’s assets. Why does this matter? A prosperous and sustainable community is only as healthy as its core. One of the ways that WHDA focuses on supporting the core business district in Washington is by offering events that will attract new shoppers, visitors and residents.

“Without the support of PotashCorp Aurora, WHDA would be extremely hampered in what we would be able to accomplish for the community,” said Beth Byrd, Washington Harbor District Alliance director. “PotashCorp allows us to focus on the event, or marketing campaigns like: Shop, Dine, Play! or such initiatives as the Visualization and Reinvestment Strategy.”

WHDA’s mission to improve the economic conditions and quality of life in Washington would be severely hampered if WHDA had to spend a majority of the time raising funds.
