MILLIE SPENCER COX

Millie Spencer Cox, 82 of 89 Goshen Road, Engelhard, NC, died Saturday October 11, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Born March 8, 1932 in Engelhard, Hyde County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Samuel H. Spencer, II and Janie Watson Spencer Ballance. She was married to Hyler J. Cox who died in October 1990.

She was a member of Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church and Hyde Chapter No. 213 Order of Eastern Star where she was active for fifty one years, is currently a member of Columbia Chapter No.281. She retired in 2003 after thirty one years as office manager and lab technician in the Liverman Clinic.

Surviving are two sons, H. Wayne Cox and wife Aleta of Engelhard, NC and Lyle S. Cox and wife, Peggy of Collington Harbor in Dare County. Two sisters in-law, Kathleen C. Spencer of Plymouth, NC and Loye M. Spencer of Hampton, VA; one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances S. Gibbs and three brothers, Edwin K. Spencer, Miles C. Spencer and James A. “Jimmie” Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerald Craddock will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Fulford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
