JACKLYN RAE SLADE BOYD May 19, 1943 – Nov. 5, 3014

Jacklyn Rae Slade Boyd died peacefully early Wednesday morning at Ridgewood Manor nursing home in Washington, NC.

Mrs. Boyd was married for 29 years and is preceded in death by Hubert Clay Boyd Sr. She has two children, Hubert Clay Boyd Jr. of Jamesville, NC, and a daughter, Janet Marie Lane of New Bern. She has four grandchildren, Miranda Boyd, Amber Boyd and Carlie Dickerson of Jamesville, NC, and Jena Allen of New Bern, NC. Mrs. Boyd was born May 19, 1943, in Washington, NC, to the late Frank and Maude Slade. She had four brothers, Cecil Slade, Robert Slade, Thomas Slade and Ralph Slade, as well as one sister, Ruth Brinn, all of whom preceded her in death. In her earlier years, Mrs. Boyd enjoyed cooking, sewing and sailboating. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughters play softball and going to the beach.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Manor as well as the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center for their kind and gentle care during Mrs. Boyd’s illness. The family will gather at the home of Mr. Mike Smith, 1305 N. Market St., Washington, NC, on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate her life and reminisce on happy times. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brody School of Medicine or the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center
