HAROLD LLOYD POTTER

Sept. 29, 1946 – Nov. 16, 2014

 

Mr. Harold Lloyd Potter, age 68, a resident of 2487 West Barr Road, Chocowinity, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at his home.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Bobby Owens.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Bob Perry, Jr., Johnny Edwards, Troy Buck, Alvin Morgan, Coy Godley, and Eric Buck.  Joseph Willis will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mr. Potter was born in Beaufort County on September 29, 1946.  He was the son of the late Lloyd Berry Potter and Mary Elizabeth Mills Potter.  Mr. Potter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a traveling construction worker.  Mr. Potter was a pipefitter for Brown and Root in Aurora and DuPont in Richmond, Va. for 30 years.  He worked in Sales at Lowes in Greenville until his retirement.  Mr. Potter attended Memorial Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity.   He enjoyed farming, working with tractors, travelling, and was a very personable and social man.

On March 4, 1978, Mr. Potter married the former Jessie Alligood, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Rhonda Morgan and husband, Alvin of New Bern; son, Troy Buck and wife, Tammy of New Bern; two grandsons Eric Buck and wife, Amber of New Bern, Joseph Willis and wife, Nicole of New Bern; two great grandchildren, Taylor Willis and Camden Willis both of New Bern; two brothers, John C. Potter and his wife, Nikki of Rock Springs, WY, Richard A. Potter of Chocowinity; brother in law, Kelly Alligood and wife, Tammy of Chocowinity and their son and daughter in law, Matthew and Nicole Alligood; two nephews, Christopher Potter and Jason Potter both of Wyoming; one niece, Karla Roadifer of Wyoming; “special brother and sister”, Bobby and Madlyn Perry of Chocowinity and his beloved dog, Shawnee.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at his home.
