LLOYD RAY HARRIS

July 17, 2014

Lloyd Ray Harris, 82, passed away on July 17 at his home in Pantego, NC after a short battle with cancer.

A memorial luncheon to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends at the Pantego Ruritan Building, in Pantego, NC on November 22 at 12:30 pm.

Lloyd was a veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge, Occupation Medal and Purple Heart. After the war he worked as a body repairman, commercial fisherman, and on tugboats until his retirement in 1996. He continued to work on special restoration and repair projects, on many occasions, bringing his love of cars and airplanes home with him to his own garage. He was an experienced pilot and enjoyed flying a variety of aircraft with his friends.  When not flying he loved building and repairing airplanes as well as spending time with friends and family.   He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his four children, Cynthia Harris Quesenberry, Michael Anthony (Tony) Harris, Patricia Harris Apperson and Rebecca Lynn Harris.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason Ewick, Charles Mooring, Elizabeth Harris, Jessica Leche, and Moira Harris and one great grandchild Rhia Melton.  He is also survived by his brother Mack Harris, of Raleigh NC and his beloved dog Buffy.
