INSTITUTE — Head coach Chris Penhollow’s Pam Pack took to the mats for the first time this season against North Lenoir on Wednesday and managed to pull out a 43-42 victory over the Hawks.

In a back-and-forth affair, it was Washington’s returning state qualifiers, along with a couple of veteran wrestlers, who carried the Pam Pack to its first win of the winter season.

In the 106-pound weight class, sophomore Jacob Smith pinned Sullivan in just 59 seconds, while freshman Marcus Sneed followed suit with a pin over Thompson.

Following a forfeit in the 120-pound class, Washington’s Austin Koonce was pinned in 54 seconds.

D.K. Credle, Cameron Davenport and Mitchell Cobb both pinned their opponents, but North Lenoir’s Wiggins dropped Kenny Castaneda in a minute.

To close, Washington’s Andrew Ferguson pinned his opponent in a minute and Chris Coogan’s pin in the 220-pound weight class locked up the match, despite the Pam Pack having to forfeit the 285-pound class.

After Thanksgiving break, Washington heads to Goldsboro on Dec. 3 to take on Goldsboro and Clinton.
