LILLIE R. H. GREEN

Mar. 20, 1924 – Dec. 03, 2014

 

Mrs. Lillie Ruth Holloway Green, 90 resident of 1322 Mapletown Road, Swan Quarter died Wed. Dec. 3, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A celebration of life will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at Old Richmond Missionary Baptist Church 18525 US Highway 264, Swan Quarter NC, with Pastor Reginald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery Swan Quarter.

Mrs. Green was born in Beaufort County Mar. 20, 1924, daughter of the late Conrad Holloway, Sr. and Lydia Howard Holloway. Lillie was educated in the Hyde County Schools. At an early age she joined Zion Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Sladesville. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Elisha Green on May 23, 1942. Following her marriage she joined Old Richmond Missionary Baptist Church in Swan Quarter. She served in the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Secretary of the Church and other church affiliations.

Lillie was a charter member of Pride of  Hyde #72 Order of Eastern Star. She served with dedication for 61 years.

She was employed with B.H.M. Regional Library for 45 years.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband Elisha Green.

Siblings: Alice Lucille Hartwell, Zelma Marie Harvey, Thelma Louise Pauls, Dorothy Marie Robinson, Victoria Credle; One great granddaughter- Ebony Whitaker; One great grandson- Joshua Sanders; One niece reared as her own, Shirley Ellison; Survivors are Two Sons- Gene B. Green (Katie) of Portsmouth, VA and Archie Green of the home; One Step-daughter- Annie Taitts, Bronx NY, a Grandson Gene (reared as her son) of Newport News, VA; Two Nephews reared as her own, Frank Gray, New York City, N.Y. and Roderick Credle of Maryland.

One Brother, Conrad Holloway, Jr. (Mable) of Radcliff, KY, One Sister, Ruby Jackson of Virginia Beach, VA. One Brother-in-law, Garland Green (Ella) of Queens NY. One sister-in-law Melissa Credle (Vance) of Portsmouth, VA.; Four other grandchildren, Debbie Twitly, Vincient Green, Andy Green (Shekedra) and Randy Green all of Chesapeake, VA; Three adopted children Melvin and Shirley Blount of Engelhard and William Nelson of Washington; and seventeen great grandchildren. Her Care givers, Barbara McCullor, Sudie O’neal, Tu’rcca Howard and a very dedicated and special caregiver Ruby Pearl Spencer.

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..

Visitation will be conducted Sat. Dec. 06, 2014 at Whitfield & Whitley Chapel from 2:00PM-6:00PM.  The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements by Whitfield and Whitley Funeral Home.
